| The
hardware PSWITCH daughter board provides 4 outputs which are
switched ON/OFF over a position sector by electronic comparators.
The board has an encoder input which forms an axis within
the Motion Coordinator. By comparing the encoder position
with position registers set by an application program.
The board can switch the outputs ON or OFF very rapidly and
accurately. This allows it to generate, for example,
output pulses when position sectors are reached.
A
function similar to this PSWITCH/PLS function is provided
within the standard Trio BASIC software. The software
function is updated each servo cycle, so typically every 500
usec. The hardware PSWITCH/PLS function can respond
within approximately 2 usec of the position being reached.
