To meet demand from large OEM customers for an economical multi-axis Motion Coordinator with a small footprint.

A fifth axis can be added on an expansion connector which will take standard Trio axis and communications daughter boards.

User Programs are written in Trio’s established Multi-Tasking BASIC and applications can be developed using the Windows based Motion Perfect environment. Complex motion profiles are available and these can be linked to a master encoder input for Slaving, Gearing and Cams.

The unit has 24 opto-isolated digital I/O (16 inputs & 8 outputs) on board. 4 Fast hardware registration inputs are available on each axis for highly accurate control of print and packaging lines. 2 x 12 bit analog input channels are provided on the board.

The I/O count can be expanded using Trio CANbus Digital I/O and Analog Input modules. The CANbus port also supports DeviceNet and CanOpen protocols. The Euro205x has two built in RS-232 ports. In addition, a full-duplex RS-485 channel is provided and a further serial channel is available at TTL levels.

An external adapter can be used to allow the TTL level serial port to link to Trio Fibre Optic Network devices.

Enhancements over Euro205

 

120 Mhz DSP Processor The Euro205x uses the latest VC33 version of the powerful 32bit floating point DSP family. The clock rate increases to 120Mhz from 40Mhz and the power consumption is decreased.
Application RAM size: 512kbyte Application RAM size is more than doubled on the 205x allowing for larger complex machine programs.
4 channel DAC always provided The 4 channel voltage output DAC is provided soldered on to the board on every Euro205x rather than being an optional feature. When not used for servo operation the DAC’s can be used to generate +/-10volt output signals for machine control.
Dual 12 bit analog inputs A new feature are 2 x 12 bit analog inputs available directly on the Euro205x main board. The input voltage range is 0-10volts.
RS485 built on-board The Euro205x has an RS485 full duplex serial port built on to the board rather than requiring an external adapter.
Absolute encoder support The Euro205x is designed to optionally support absolute encoders. The encoder inputs have transceivers which can be used for duplex communication with SSI, Tamagawa and EnDat encoders. Support for the encoder interface is an optional feature which has to be installed into the 205x FPGA by Trio.
Solid state enable relay Offers higher long term reliability
Differential or open-collector stepper outputs The Euro205x encoder transceivers may be used as differential step/direction outputs, in addition to the open-collector outputs.
Reprogrammable gate array allows for greater customisation The Euro205x has a high capacity flash based FPGA. The FPGA can be easily reprogrammed by Trio to meet particular requirements for volume applications.
Dual registration inputs/axis The Euro205x has dual registration inputs on each encoder channel. This allow for greater flexibility in complex synchronization applications.
