Sercos Drive Interfaces
print printer friendly

SERCOS ring diagramSERCOS is a digital communication interface specifically designed for communications between motion controllers and drives. It is a well proven standard, having been originally established in the early 1990’s and was adopted as an international standard in 1995 (EN 61491) SERCOS has been widely adopted by drive and controller companies in Europe, the USA, and Japan.

SERCOS provides a very accurately timed, high speed interface. It is implemented using fibre-optic cables which gives great simplicity and electrical noise immunity. Using the SERCOS protocol parameters are transferred in and out of the drive both cyclically and as background “service channel” parameter transfers.

Trio provides a SERCOS interfaces for the MC206X and MC224 Motion Coordinators, making them usable as SERCOS masters.

Trio also provides SERCOS slave interfaces. The P730 Sigma II SERCOS interface is the first example of this.
