Trio
is and continues to be a very strong player in the packaging
industry. The 2004 PackExpo in Chicago this past November
was a great opportunity to show off Trio’s capability.
This year included a new booth design that highlighted some
of the many key features of the Trio controllers applicable
to packaging machinery.
A display of particular interest to large and small Packaging
OEMs’ was a SERCOS ring running an Allen Bradley Ultra
drive, Sanyo Denki drive, and Yaskawa Sigma II drive on the
same fiber ring. This demonstrated Trio’s SERCOS interoperability,
and commitment to the up and coming PackProfile – a
new standard being defined by the Packaging Industry. PackProfile
take SERCOS standard hardware and then uses a predefined sub-set
of IDNs’. The goal is to give the customer the ability
to mix and match any drive to any controllers.
Another
product on display was Trio’s new “Drive-In”
MC302 Series Motion CoordinatorsTM. This product series now
running on the Kollmorgen S600/S300 and LUST drives gives
packaging customers a powerful yet easy to program single-axis
controller. Applications for the MC302 Series include Flying
Shears, Traverse Winders, and Feeders.
The
X-Y-Z CNC style system on display was a real eye catcher.
This system demonstrated continuous path cutting and gluing,
and pick-and-place functionality. The Trio controllers are
ideally suited for both applications. A DVD movie showing
tangential path cutting of various materials rounded out display.
